Epos would be a brand not many people familiar with, at least among the population of High-end watch owners. Epos had a long history up to almost 100 years, but without much promotion, only a small group of publics had learnt about it. In recent decades, with the help of internet and social media together with their expansion in product line like dress watch, diver, sport watches and etc, we can see more of Epos watches in the market.
The watches on my hand is Epos Reserve De Marche, which is quite a special piece, sharing some similarities with Chronoswiss watches, combining the elements of modern and vintage watches in 1940-50s in their design. A thin case, onion crown and bezel matched with small second hand with a manual winding movement is the signature of that era.

The highlight of the watch is the white Lacquered dial, which is very awesome and had made the watch looks gorgeous. The reflection from the white dial on daylight
Is shiny and eye catching. And It is the major reason why it is still in my collection. And a bonus is Epos had added power reserve indicator to make it look less plain.

It is powered by a discontinued peseux 7046 manual winding movement which is reliable, robust and thin. Thanks to brands like Epos and Nomos had kept many of the new old stock that we can still see this movement in many new watches today.
Story behind the purchase?
Getting this piece is quite an unexpected story. I was supposed to sell or swapping out my Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic due to my wrong choice on choosing 42mm version instead of 38mm which I think the case is too big and the scale is not perfect enough (obviously 38mm looks better to better).
Someone in the forum had suggested this, a Seiko and another Frederique Constant to me. I was okay with all 3 but I didn’t want a wrong choice again. No offence to Frederique Constant but I didn’t like owning a piece that looked like something else in the market, that is JLC. And I got so many Seiko either. The “3167” got a special dial, thin case and perfect 38mm size which is ideal as a dress watch. Finally got this one on hand it looked as good as the photo in the internet, or even better.
Although I got no positive feeling on the brand before as many of their watches with designs no different from others, I admit that this one is very unique and looks real good.
What I love
Lacquered dial made the watch look high end and the design look unique
A reliable and time keeping movement
Thin case
Power reserve indicator which is useful for manual winding watches
Overall design looks real classic
What I complain
A fetal design that is too close between the lug and the case causing damaging to “All” straps including the original one
The power reserve indicator and the “Epos” logo look like a sticker on the dial
Semi quick set date is better than nothing but still make me headache
