Omega Speedmaster Professional “Tin Tin”, Ref: 311.30.42.30.01.004 is the second “Moonwatch” in my collection. Without any promotions like other special edition, it cannot draw many attentions and may not be that well-known, but it is hot among “Moonwatch” collectors. It was first introduced in Basel W 2013 and discontinued in 2-3-year time.
The case seems indifferent from other modern “Moonwatch” and it is powered by a hand winding movement cal. 1861, a simplified successor of the legendary NASA qualified cal.321 movement. While there is a long story behind the “racing” dial, which “red and white” dial is based on the colours of the rocket in the famous comic Tintin Destination Moon.
The unexpected failure in getting consent of the author was believed to be the main reason of “Death”. It is not an official “limited edition” but collectors estimated only around 2000-5000 pieces were produced during the very short period.
Before the clearance of all new old stock, it was placed under racing series. (Another price was the very collectable “Speedmaster Professional Japan”.
Story behind the purchase?
Since selling my first Sapphire glasses “Moonwatch”, I was dreaming to get one with Hesalite crystal. Knowing that Japan is a nice place getting Omega and Breitling with good price.
I had planned to get one during my Fukuoka trip in 2016. Learning the story behind “TinTin” I had made my mind, I cant stop thinking about it.
“TinTin” is quite a special piece to collect which is rare and highly collectable for its connection to Tin Tin’s moon landing story. The rocket-coloured dial with the only model with red word on the back made it low profile limited.
In 2016, getting NOS is still an easy job, there are at least 1-2 pieces everywhere. But in 2019 the price had been doubled.

What I love?
1. Special “Tintin” dial and the only model with red letter on case back
2. An easy to acquire special edition at 2016
3. Comfortable on wrist thanks to the thin movement
4. Handwinding movement give an ultimate mechanical feeling
5. Reliable and time keeping
What I Complain
Nothing, moonwatch is perfect!!!
